THE CANDIDACY AND INVESTITURE CEREMONY AT ST. GREGORY THE GREAT PROVINCIAL MAJOR SEMINARY, PARKOSO-KUMASI ON 1ST NOVEMBER, 2017

To the greater glory of God, the Kumasi Ecclesiastical Province since 2009 has been blessed with St. Gregory the Great Provincial Major Seminary. The Seminary as at last year had witnessed four batches being admitted as Candidates for the ministerial Priesthood of the Holy Catholic Church.
This year, on the 1st of November, the day when holy mother the church traditionally commemorates All the Saints, the Major Seminary witnessed her fifth Investiture and Candidacy ceremony. During the ceremony, seventeen (17) young men from the six Dioceses in the Province were officially admitted by the Church as Candidates for the Priesthood. They were at the same time invested with their cassocks.
The ceremony was presided over by Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi who in the collegial spirit of his brother Bishops in the Province admitted these Candidates.
During the celebration, the Archbishop in his homily exhorted the faithful that, all are potential saints; for a saint is a past sinner and a sinner is a potential saint. He said that the daily lives of the Christian should draw him into the countless number of saints who will follow the lamb in the heavenly Jerusalem. He added that circumstances, race, tribe, places of origin should not cause people into thinking that they cannot be saints. The faithful should therefore be grateful to God when they see somebody living a saintly life and should themselves strive through their daily lives of humility, prayer, reception of the sacraments, and meditation on the word of God be numbered among the saints when they go marching in the heavenly Jerusalem.

The entire celebration ended around 1:00 pm and the newly admitted Candidates shared some time with their families and friends who had come to grace the occasion with their presence and presents.
